Miss New York Mallory Hagan was named Miss America over the weekend. The 23-year-old Brooklyn native stunned in a beautiful white gown, a black bikini (during the swimsuit portion of the competition), and tap danced at the pageant, which took place in Las Vegas over the weekend. When it came to the interview portion, she received a question concerning whether or not armed guards belonged in schools. Hagan replied, ""I don't think the proper way to fight violence is with violence. I think the proper way is to educate people on guns and the ways we can use them properly. We can lock them up, we can have gun safety classes, we can have a longer waiting period." Miss South Carolina Ali Rogers and Miss Oklahoma Alicia Clifton came in second and third places, respectively.
