TLC’s new show Here Comes Honey Boo Boo is a bona fide hit, but the National Enquirer claims the program almost didn’t happen. According to the tab, shortly after filming began in March, investigators from Georgia’s Division of Family and Children Services paid a visit to the family’s home. Apparently they grew concerned after a video (not shot by TLC) went viral showing 6-year-old Alana, a.k.a. Honey Boo Boo, dancing for money on a bar table. Honey Boo Boo’s mom June defended her daughter’s actions saying it was a college bar not a “sleazy” one. Investigators felt the case should go to court, but June’s court-appointed lawyer somehow got it thrown out and filming on the series resumed in May.  It has also been revealed that June was arrested in January, 2008 for theft and contempt of court. Although details of her arrest aren’t clear, June was the defendant in two child support cases around the same time, so the arrest could be linked to that.  Meanwhile, the TLC series is bound to get even more bizarre in coming weeks. According to The Enquirer,  Honey Boo Boo’s 17-year-old sister Anna, a.k.a. Chickadee, gives birth to a baby girl with two right thumbs, prompting June to make fun of the defect.
