The official portrait of the Duchess of Cambridge was unveiled at the National Portrait Gallery last week - to very mixed reviews. "I thought it was brilliant," Kate said of the rendering. William also expressed his admiration, saying it was “absolutely beautiful.” Painted by Paul Emsley, Kate's portrait clearly resmebles the Duchess, but many feel it does in no way pay a compliment to her true beauty. Waldemar Januszczak, art critic for the Sunday Times, called it, "“pretty ordinary... He made her look older than she is and her eyes don't sparkle in the way that they do and there's something rather dour about the face.”
