Aretha Discusses Whitney's Death

Whitney Houston’s godmother Aretha Franklin told the Today show on Friday that she found out about Whitney’s death on the television. Aretha thought that Whitney was doing better, saying that she looked healthy and fresh in clips of her movie Sparkle. "And I thought yes, she has conquered her challenges and was on the way," she said. She only hopes that people remember her for her voice, and not her strange behavior, "You cannot define a person on just one thing. You can't just forget all these wonderful and good things that a person has done because one thing didn't come off the way you thought it should come off."

Janet Jackson is the latest name thrown into the X Factor gig. The Hollywood Reporter spoke to an insider who claims that Jackson expressed an interest in joining the show. The source said the talks with Janet are a preliminary stage, and Producer Simon Cowell is showing interest in Pink and Kety Perry.
Amanda Knox to Write a Book

Amanda Knox is writing a book about her situation. Knox served four years in Italian prison for killing her roommate, before being acquitted, and signed a $4 million deal with HarperCollins to tell her story. HarperCollins released a statement of what we can expect in the book, "Knox will give a full and unflinching account of the events that led to her arrest in Perugia and her struggles with the complexities of the Italian judicial system. She will reveal never before-told details surrounding her case, and describe how she used her inner strength and strong family ties to cope with the most challenging time of her young life."

Gay rights activist Peter Tatchell claims that Whitney Houston turned to drugs and alcohol because she was a lesbian, and was unhappy living a lie. For years, there was a rumored relationship between Houston and ex- assistant Robyn Crawford, whom met Crawford when she was 16. "Whitney was the happiest at her peak in the 1980s when she was with her female partner. Perhaps her inability to accept and express her same-sex love contributed to her substance abuse and decline," Tatchell told the Daily Star. Has there been a change of heart? Or just rumors getting around? Either way, insiders are denying the claim that Bobby Brown was not invited to Houston’s funeral. A source told ABC News that the family has been in touch with Brown about the service, which is taking place on Saturday. Meanwhile, although the New Edition singer claims to not have seen his daughter since his arrival in L.A, Brown claims that Bobbi Kristina is doing much better. "We continue to provide love and support to Bobbi Kristina," he told ABC, continuing to ask for privacy, in this difficult time for the family.

Lindsay Lohan may be getting her act together, but she still isn't paying her taxes. TMZ previously reported that Lindsay owed the government over $93,000 for her 2009 federal taxes, and now new docs filed at the LA County Recorder's Office shows that Lindsay didn't pay her 2010 taxes either. According to the papers, she now owes the government another $140,203.30. Lindsay has previously blamed her accountants for her failure to pay.

Fighting has already started between Bobby Brown and WhitneyHouston’s family. According to TMZ, Bobby still hasn’t gotten to see his daughter Bobbi Kristina and he thinks Whitney’s mother Cissy Houston is to blame. Bobby flew to LA Sunday night to be with his daughter, but still hasn’t seen her, even though he’s called several times and tried to physically see her yesterday morning. Bobby was reportedly turned away when he showed up to the home where Whitney’s family is caring for the grieving 18-year-old. Sources say Bobby is blaming Cissy because they have hated each other for years. Word is, Bobby is also “extremely disappointed” after finding out he won’t be invited to Whitney’s funeral. Whitney’s family has reportedly reached out to him to warn him to not attempt to attend the funeral. Bobby wants to go to support his daughter.
Hugh Hefner's Son Arrested for Abusing Girlfriend

Marston Hefner, the oldest son of Playboy founder Hugh Hefner, was arrested over the weekend for allegedly attacking his girlfriend, 2011 Playboy Playmate of the Year Claire Sinclair. According to TMZ, cops were called to the couple's Pasadena home by a member of Claire's family who called 911 claiming Marston attacked Claire. When cops arrived they saw visible injuries on the Playmate's body. Marston admitted that he and his girlfriend fought, but denied striking her. Claire told cops Marston had punched her, kicked her in the stomach, and refused to let her leave the home. Marston was then arrested for misdemeanor domestic violence and booked. He was later released on $20,000 bail.
Gabriel Aubry to Lose Visitation Rights with Daughter

Halle Berry's baby daddy will no longer be allowed alone time with his daughter. According to TMZ, Los Angeles' Dependency Court has ruled that Gabriel Aubry can only have contact with his three-year-old daughter Nahla when a monitor is present in the room. According to sources, Gabriel has also been ordered to take anger management classes, and will have to fulfill several other requirements, as well as various forms of counseling, before that restriction is lifted. TMZ claims that the LA Department of Children and Family Services uncovered numerous incidents that concerned them about Gabriel's ability to parent Nahla. In fact, DCFS even interviewed the 3-year-old, who talked about being frightened when her father would scream at her. DCFS has also obtained information about Gabriel yanking Nahla from her nanny, and pushing the nanny while she was holding the child.
