“Penny Dreadful” Renewed for a Second Season
How dreadful it would have been if “Penny Dreadful” hadn’t been renewed for a second season?
Thankfully, we don’t have to worry about that. Due to its killer season one ratings, "Entertainment Weekly" reports Showtime has ordered the Josh Hartnett-starring show for a sophomore run, even extending the number of episodes from eight to ten.
Co-starring “Sin City: A Dame to Kill For” actress Eva Green, the show comes from Sam Mendes and John Logan, whose last collaboration was the most recent James Bond film, “Skyfall.”
If that’s not enough of a Bond connection for you, the show also stars Timothy Dalton, the man who portrayed 007 in both “The Living Daylights” and “License to Kill.”
But this is no James Bond story: the show features literary characters like Dorian Gray and Dr. Frankenstein and thrives on Victorian-era darkness.
“Penny Dreadful” airs Sunday nights at 10pm on Showtime. Have you been watching? Let us know in the comments!
