James Franco Cops to Instagram Scandal: “I Learned My Lesson”
James Franco has admitted to chatting up a teenage girl on Instagram earlier this week.
Franco owned up to the incident on “Live! With Kelly and Michael,” according to “The Hollywood Reporter.”
“I was feeling awkward – I didn’t want to come on the show and just feel awkward,” he sheepishly told the co-hosts (via “THR”). “I’m embarrassed, and I guess I’m just a model of how social media is tricky.”
Franco went on to explain that he’s “new to it” and that you “don’t know who’s on the other end.”
“You get a feel for them, you don’t know who you’re talking to,” he offered. “I used bad judgment and I learned my lesson.”
The star, who is no stranger to poking fun at his public image, also admitted that because he is famous that the awkward process of meeting someone is “double embarrassing.”
An alleged Instagram conversation between Franco and a 17-year-old Scottish girl vacationing in New York was leaked online.
This is the first time he has explicitly referenced the scandal, though he did tweet Wednesday, “I HOPE PARENTS KEEP THEIR TEENS AWAY FROM ME.”
