“Game of Thrones” Actress Joins “Hunger Games: Mockingjay”
While “Game of Thrones” fans are chomping at the bit for Sunday’s season premiere, one of the HBO series’ actresses, has another reason to celebrate.
Deadline reports that Gwendoline Christie, who stars as Brienne on “GoT,” will play District 13 leader Commander Lyme in “The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2.”
The role was originally set for rising star Lily Rabe, but the “American Horror Story” actress had to bow out because of a commitment to Shakespeare in the Park.
The production has already dealt with the sudden death of Philip Seymour Hoffman, yet “Mockingjay – Part 2” is still on track for a November 2014 release.
“Game of Thrones” returns Sunday, April 6 at 9pm, following a sneak preview at the final season of “True Blood” and new series “The Leftovers,” both of which will debut in June.
What do you think of the casting change? Are you counting the minutes until “Game of Thrones” premieres?
