Is “Law & Order: SVU” In Danger of Cancellation?
Here’s a new case for Olivia Benson: Will “Law & Order: SVU” be back next fall?
Deadline reports that the NBC series might come to an end after 15 seasons, as creator Dick Wolf and the network come to a stalemate.
The Peacock network is reportedly asking Wolf to take a pay cut as the aging drama has become increasingly expensive, and thus far he has declined.
The situation mirrors a similar standoff between the prolific TV producer and NBC over the flagship “Law & Order,” which was abruptly cancelled after twenty years with no resolution.
Mariska Hargitay, who has played Benson since the show’s start, is only contracted through the current season, but those talks are only necessary if Wolf and NBC come to an agreement.
“SVU,” which is going strong creatively with season 13 additions Kelli Giddish and Danny Pino, has had stable if unimpressive ratings this year.
Would you be sad to see “SVU” go or would you simply keep watching the off-network reruns?
