With a singing style all her own, Fergie has certainly made a place for herself among the best of the best in pop music! She celebrates her 39th birthday today!
Born Stacy Ferguson, Fergie saw fame very early on in life. By age nine, Fergie was already starring on the popular kids program “Kids Incorporated,” which allowed her to showcase her singing skills and she remained on the show for 6 seasons.
Upon leaving the show in 1989, Fergie joined up with Renee Sands and Stefanie Ridel and formed her first pop group, Wild Orchid. While the group had mild success with their first album in the late ‘90s, she left the group not long after their second release.
After joining up with The Black Eyed Peas in 2002, the group released “Elephunk” the following year, charting mainstream success with “Where Is the Love?” and earning them a Grammy for Best Rap Performance by a group.
Her star continued to rise with the Peas with the follow-up album “Monkey Business” in 2005, which landed the group two more Grammys in 2005 and 2006.
Never content to stick to the status quo, Fergie struck out on her own with her solo debut, “The Dutchess,” just one year later. With a string of hits from “Fergalicious” to “Glarmous” to “Clumsy,” she truly earned her title. The album saw huge commercial success and reached high positions across the charts.
Yet she and BEP were soon back at it again in 2009 with “The E.N.D.,” a year that also saw her marriage to actor Josh Duhamel. Now legally named Fergie Duhamel, the pop star welcomed her first child, a boy named Axl, with her husband last August.
With a happy family and confirmation that another solo LP is on the way, we’re sure 2014 is going to be a big year for Fergie!
