“Octomom” Nadya Suleman Facing More Welfare Fraud Charges
It seemed for a short while that for Nadya Suleman, known to some as the “Octomom,” her fifteen minutes were up.
But Suleman is making headlines once again, and for all the wrong reasons. CNN reports that she is facing another welfare fraud charge for a total of four counts.
The woman, who made headlines for giving birth to octuplets, on top of her six other children, has been accused of “not reporting that she was making thousands of dollars as [a] topless dancer and adult film actress when she applied for government aid last year.”
Suleman had already been charged with three counts of welfare fraud, to which she pleaded not guilty.
The district attorney’s office is seeking restitution at around $26,000, and she is due back in court on March 11.
As for raising 14 children, Suleman told CNN that she wants to be a role model to women with similar struggles.
“I’ve got to win the battle,” she said. “But right now, people don’t understand that.”
