Weekend Movie Preview: "August: Osage County," "Lone Survivor" & More!
With so many movies being released throughout the year, it can be hard to keep track. To help, check out our preview of the movies that are opening this weekend:
“August: Osage County” – As one of the top movies we can’t wait to see this month, the project, based on the play of the same name, “centers on a fractured family who comes back together when the patriarch disappears.” The film also stars Ewan McGregor, Juliette Lewis, Julianne Nicholson (“Masters of Sex”), Margo Martindale, Chris Cooper and Abigail Breslin. Rated R, opens nationwide on January 10.
“The Legend of Hercules” – Kellan Lutz stars as the mythological figure, Hercules, the son of Zeus. Per the official release, after he is betrayed by the King and sold into slavery, “Hercules must use his formidable powers to fight his way back to his rightful kingdom.” A fierce battle ensues as Hercules seeks revenge against the King. Rated PG-13.
“Lone Survivor” – The film tells the story of four Navy SEALs on “an ill-fated covert mission to neutralize a high-level Taliban operative who are ambushed by enemy forces in the Hindu Kush region of Afghanistan,” according to the official release. Based on the “New York Times” bestseller, the movie stars Mark Wahlberg, Taylor Kitsch, Ben Foster, Emile Hirsch and Eric Bana. CNN’s Anderson Cooper recently called “Lone Survivor” the “best movie about war since ‘Saving Private Ryan.’” Rated R.
