Gary Oldman
is backing down on his comments he made defending Mel Gibson and Alec Baldwin’s use of offensive language – after using more than a little of his own.

The Washington Post” reports that the “Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy” actor has apologized for the comments he made in a recent “Playboy” interview, in which he said, “We all hide and try to be so politically correct.”

But Oldman wasn’t trying very hard during that sit-down, going on a number of rants about the Jewish people and gays in particular.

The veteran actor now claims he had recently finished a good called “An Empire of Their Own: How the Jews Invented Hollywood,” noting that for his career he “owes an enormous debt to that contribution,” according a statement to the Anti-Defamation League published (via the “Post”).

As the “Post” notes, he still “did not apologize to the other groups and people he insulted, including gays, African Americans and Nancy Pelosi.”

Oldman will next star in “Dawn of the Planet of the Apes.” Read more of his apology over at
