“Ghostbusters 3” Going Forward Despite Harold Ramis’s Passing – Report

Harold Ramis
passed away earlier this week, leaving a legacy of innumerable comedy classics behind.

Unquestionably, one of his biggest successes came from “Ghostbusters” and its sequel. Though “Ghostbusters III” has long been in the work, it has stayed in development purgatory over the past few years, in no small part because of Bill Murray’s reluctance.

Yet according to “The Hollywood Reporter,” the threequel will still move forward in spite of Ramis’s passing.

“He was always great to bounce something off of, and that will certainly be missed,” an insider tells “THR.” “But it won’t affect the script.”

Ivan Reitman, who directed “Ghostbusters II,” is reported to be meeting with Sony soon to discuss the plans, while the script will be revamped.

The surviving Ghostubsters, Murray, Dan Aykroyd and Ernie Hudson, have not signed any deals to return yet, and the film is not believed to begin shooting this year.
