Michael Keaton Optimistic for “Beetlejuice” Sequel

While a third “Ghostbusters” film continues to languish in development, perhaps news on a possible “Beetlejuice” sequel will satisfy your desire for a 1980s horror comedy reboot.

While it’s one thing that Seth Grahame-Smith (“Pride & Prejudice & Zombies”) has been working on the script for some time, it’s another for the lead to get on board.

Michael Keaton, who starred as the titular spook in the 1988 film, tells MTV News that he is more than interested in reprising the role, and he’s not alone.

Keaton says he has been in contact with director Tim Burton, claiming that he too could be persuaded to helm the follow-up.

“I’ve emailed Tim a couple of times, talked to the writer a couple of times, but all really, really preliminary stuff,” he told MTV. “I always said that’s the one thing I’d like to do again, if I ever did anything again. But it kind of required Tim to be involved some way or another.”

Keaton added that it appears that Burton is in fact involved, stating, “And without giving too much away we’ve talked to each other, and emailed each other, and if he’s in, it’s going to be hard not to be in.”
