Earlier this week, a rep for Selena Gomez confirmed that the former Disney star had spent some time in rehab last month, stressing that it was not related to drugs or alcohol.
Regardless of the reason, TMZ is reporting that the pop singer left the facility in Arizona four weeks ahead of schedule.
The alleged reason for her departure? Gomez wanted to go to the Sundance Film Festival to promote her new film, a musical drama called “Rudderless.”
TMZ adds that the star was supposed to return to The Meadows after the screening for the remainder of the six-week program, but she didn’t feel like going back.
Gomez herself has stayed mum on the situation, though she did release a statement after cancelling several tour dates overseas, noting her need to “spend some time” on herself.
“To my fans, I sincerely apologize and I hope you guys know how much each and every one of you mean to me,” she said in a statement (via ABC News).
