While Justin Bieber is not due in court until Valentine’s Day for his arrest earlier this month, he dealt with another legal matter last night.
The 19-year-old singer traveled back to Toronto to turn himself in on an assault charge, CNN reports.
Bieber was booked on Wednesday after the alleged assault, in which he is believed to have assaulted a limo driver while traveling in a group of six.
“While driving the group to hotel, an altercation, a man struck the limousine driver on the back of the head several times,” police said in a statement (via CNN). “In the course of the altercation, a man struck the limousine driver on the back of the head several times. The driver stopped the limousine, exited the vehicle and called police.”
A rep for the star stated that their position “is that Mr. Bieber is innocent,” and he declined to give further specifics about their defense.
His court date has been set for March 10, nearly one month after his appearance on February 14, when he is facing charges on suspicion of DUI, resisting arrest and driving on an expired license.
Shortly before arriving at the police station, Bieber posted a video of himself announcing the release of his new video, “Confident.”
