Still experiencing a bounce from his summer tour with Taylor Swift, Ed Sheeran has announced fall dates for the U.K. and Ireland -- a 12-date trek starting October 6 in Belfast and including two shows a piece in London, Birmingham and Manchester.
But fans were hoping for more news today (January 6) -- specifically about Sheeran's next album, the follow-up to his smash 2012 debut "+." Sheeran has tweeted messages that he's just about finished and expects a release in 2014, and he told us there's plenty of material to choose from:
"I'm probably about 40 tracks into the next album, and I'll pick 14 from that...I'm trying to write as many songs as possible...I go through times of not writing anything, so I think yeah, there are times I've been prolific and times I’ve not been prolific at all. I think you just have to unclog the pipes, you have to write as many songs as possible, I think."
Sheeran is expected to announce more 2014 tour dates as well, most likely to take place before the run that was announced today.
