“50 Shades”: Charlie Hunnam & Dakota Johnson Land Leads
After a lengthy search, “50 Shades of Grey” finally has its Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele!
“Us Weekly” reports that the upcoming adaptation of E.L. James’s mega-bestselling novel has cast “Sons of Anarchy” star Charlie Hunnam and Dakota Johnson (FOX’s “Ben & Kate”) in the lead roles.
James herself tweeted the news over the weekend, sparking a great deal of controversy with the somewhat unsuspected casting.
The author responded to the debate on Twitter as well, writing:
Hunnam is familiar drama, having starred on FX’s hit biker drama “Sons of Anarchy” and this summer’s “Pacific Rim.”
While Johnson may seem like a less proven choice, having focused on comedy with a shortlived FOX sitcom and small roles in “21 Jump Street” and “The Five-Year Engagement,” perhaps she picked up a thing or two from her parents, Don Johnson and Melanie Griffith.
“Fifty Shades” is due out on August 1, 2014. What do you think of the casting? Does it make you more or less likely to see it? Let us know in the comments!
