Echoing Simon Cowell’s sentiments on the rebooted “X Factor,” new judge Kelly Rowland says there’s not room for diva behavior on this year’s panel.
According to Zap2it, the former Destiny’s Child singer, who previously judged on the U.K. edition of “The X Factor,” explained why she was “so excited about her new job.”
“[The judges] just have a good time together, to be honest. This isn’t about the judges, it’s about talent,” she said.
Cowell himself, who brought on Britney Spears last season, admitted to Ellen DeGeneres that the last TV season turned into a competition between the singing competition series about getting the biggest stars.
“I think if I’m being honest with you, Ellen, there was a time when I think everyone was trying to up themselves in terms of who could find the biggest known star to be on the panel,” he said.
Not one to hold back, Cowell said of Britney, “I kind of booked someone who couldn’t talk, which is a bit of a problem when you want someone to judge.”
Yet the star added that he is excited to work with the three women on the panel, returning judge Demi Lovato, Latin songstress Paulina Rubio and, of course, Rowland.
“The X Factor” returns to FOX for a two-night premiere on Wednesday, September 11 and Thursday, September 12 at 8pm.
