Lady Gaga Drops “Applause” Video, Will Open the VMAs
Lady Gaga “lives for the applause,” and she’s likely to get a great deal of it following her performance at MTV’s Video Music Awards this weekend.
According to the “NY Daily News,” Gaga announced that she will open the VMAs on Sunday, August 25 with her latest single “Applause,” which leaked online earlier this month.
But first, the pop singer has debuted the music video for the new track, appearing on “Good Morning America” yesterday morning to show it off. Warning -- Slightly NSFW:
In the mostly black-and-white new video, Gaga appears as a swan, the iconic “Birth of Venus” painting and at one point smears her face with paint, making up the look that doubles as the cover art for “Applause.”
The singer has previously appeared at the VMAs wearing an outfit made out of meat and dressing as her male alter ego, Jo Calderone.
Other previously announced performers include Katy Perry, Justin Timberlake, Miley Cyus and Kanye West.
