Katie Couric’s Daytime Show Officially Cancelled
The cancellation axe has finally fallen on Katie Couric’s doomed daytime talk show, “Katie.”
Though reports of the show’s decline started not long into the second season, it was all but confirmed when the host signed a deal to be Yahoo’s new global correspondent.
Time reports that the Disney-ABC production has been dropped and will conclude in June 2014, according to Deadine.
“We’re very proud of everyone’s contributions to making ‘Katie’ the #1 new syndicated talk show of 2012-2013, and we look forward to the rest of the season,” Couric and ABC said in a joint statement.
Couric reportedly told the staff after Thursday’s taping, which marks the show’s final episode of 2013.
The longtime journalistic will start pulling double duty with “Katie” and Yahoo in 2013, after which she is believed to be looking for other opportunities in television.
