Since Miley Cyrus has been ubiquitous this year, it’s no surprise that she is one of Barbara Walters’s “10 Most Fascinating People of 2013.”
Yet the “Wrecking Ball” singer was shockingly honest about her past with ex-fiance Liam Hemsworth, telling Walters that she was simply too young to get married.
In the video (via "Entertainment Weekly"), she denies that the lyrics to her song “Drive” imply that her relationship “was all just a lie.”
“I don’t think there were any lies,” she told Walters. “I was so scared of ever being alone, and I think conquering that fear this year was actually bigger than any other transition I ever had this entire year.”
“I don’t ever want to have to need someone again, where you feel like, without them, you can’t be yourself,” she said.
Cyrus admits that she has not given up on getting married, but says it will happen at the right time for her in the future.
“I don’t think I realized what 19 truly is,” she added to Walters. “I got engaged at 19. I definitely wouldn’t change getting engaged… But now, I just feel like, I can actually be happy.”
Along with Cyrus, this year’s “Most Fascinating” list includes Jennifer Lawrence, Kim Kardashian and Kanye West, Prince George and more. The special airs Wednesday, December 16 at 9:30pm on ABC.
