Is FOX Developing a “Glee” Spinoff Starring Lea Michele?
Rumor has it that although “Glee” will end next season, Rachel Berry will be sticking around.
Radar Online reports that her portrayer, Lea Michele, has been working behind-the-scenes with the show’s creator, Ryan Murphy, on a spinoff.
“This will be announced soon,” a source tells Radar. “They’re making the deals now and it also presents a viable exit plan for the main ‘Glee’ series itself – in that some of the core cast would also migrate to the Lea Michele project as ‘Glee’ is showing signs of aging.”
The news comes as something of a surprise, as Murphy recently announced that the FOX musical comedy would call it quits after season 6.
There have also been numerous reports about the show’s plan to deal with the death of Cory Monteith, including nixing the Lima, Ohio storylines to focus on Rachel and the other characters in New York.
E! News cited a source suggesting that the show might have Kurt (Chris Colfer) move to Russia in a political statement against the country’s anti-gay policies.
For now, “Glee” returns with all new episodes Thursday nights at 9pm on FOX. What do you think of the spinoff? What about the possible shifts to NYC or Russia?
