“Twilight” actor Kellan Lutz is no stranger to playing a man born in the distant past, but this time, he’s going a little further back in time.
Lutz is taking on the title role in “Hercules: The Legend Begins,” which follows the mythological hero’s beginnings in ancient Greece.
According to “Entertainment Weekly,” the star must face his destiny, even as he has fallen in love with his brother’s betrothed, the Princess of Crete (Gaia Weiss).
The romance-meets-epic battle drama also stars Liam McIntyre (“Spartacus”) and Johnathon Schaech (“Ray Donovan”).
The film comes from the producers of “The Expendables,” and fittingly, Lutz is also starring in the latest sequel, “The Expendables 3,” also due out next year.
But Lutz isn’t the only actor taking on the iconic role in 2014, as Dwayne Johnson is also set to star in another adaptation, simply titled “Hercules,” next summer.
“Hercules: The Legend Begins” will be released on January 10. Which Hercules would you rather watch: Kellan or Dwayne Johnson’s? Sound off in the comments!
