Maksim Chmerkovskiy is making his long-awaited return to “Dancing with the Stars” on Monday night, and nobody is more surprised than him.
In an interview with “People,” he says, “I never thought this would happen. I’m excited to be back.”
Maksim, who departed the show after 13 seasons, will return this week as a guest judge, adding that he plans to do things a little differently than the three permanent judges.
“We had our-run-ins but it’s like [my brother] Val and me. We are the closest of people and obviously get into arguments,” he said, adding that he feels obligated to “avoid being a hypocrite” after his comments regarding the judges in the past.
Maks’s guest judging stint comes as “DWST” hopes to whittle the cast down to the final four, with Corbin Bleu, Bill Engvall, Jack Osbourne, Leah Remini and Amber Riley still in the running
