In an announcement that will shock no one, AMC has opted to renew “The Walking Dead” for a fifth season only three episodes into season 4.
According to Zap2it, the season 5 pickup will likely be for another split 16-episode season, as has become the show’s custom.
The move comes as no surprise, as the new season has brought best-ever ratings for the zombie-themed drama, drawing more than 20 million viewers for its season premiere.
AMC is also developing a “companion series” for “The Walking Dead,” with the comic book series’ writer, Robert Kirkman, on board for the potential spinoff as well.
The series stars Andrew Lincoln as series lead Rick Grimes, with Norman Reedus, Steven Yeun, Melissa McBride and Lauren Cohan also starring.
“The Walking Dead” will air Sundays at 10pm on AMC for the next five weeks, with the second half of the fourth season set to premiere in February. Are you excited for more “Walking Dead”?
