FOX Sets Winter Returns for “The Following” & “Idol,” Picks Up “Dads”
FOX is looking ahead to winter, setting the new season premieres of “The Following” and “American Idol.”
According to “USA Today,” the Kevin Bacon-led serial killer series will return on Monday, January 20, after the season finale of “Sleepy Hollow” at a special time.
“American Idol” will take over for “The X Factor” on Wednesday and Thursday nights starting on January 15, and the network is surely hoping that the return of Jennifer Lopez will boost the series’ slipping ratings
The only other major change is “Rake,” a new legal drama starring Greg Kinnear, which will take over for “Glee” on Thursdays at 9pm for the foreseeable future beginning on January 23.
Also, FOX is doubling down on “Dads.” The Seth McFarlane comedy, which has garnered modest ratings in its Tuesdays at 8pm slot, has been picked up for a full 22-episode season.
The network is planning to stabilize its Tuesday night comedy block, with all four series, including “New Girl,” “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” and “The Mindy Project” to stay put as well.
