Sherlock Holmes and the Dowager Countess are back!
The world’s favorite detective will return in early January, with “Sherlock” premiering its third season on PBS on January 19, according to “Entertainment Weekly.”
The series, which stars Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman as the infamous Sherlock and Dr. Watson, returns with three feature-length episodes after a two-year break.
Season 3 of “Sherlock” will premiere two weeks after another British import, “Downton Abbey.” The domestic period drama will debut its fourth season on January 5 at 9pm.
“We love that Sherlock fans are so passionate and eager to see Season 3,” PBS’s chief programmer Beth Hoppe said in a statement. “The pairing of ‘Downton Abbey’ and ‘Sherlock’ in January offers a blockbuster night of British drama only on PBS stations.”
Due to their contractual obligations, both series will air on BBC in the U.K. before their stateside debut, with “Downton” premiering in September across the pond.
