Dakota Johnson Might Also Exit “Fifty Shades” Adaptation

Charlie Hunnam
and Dakota Johnson were not co-stars for long, but his behavior might have rubbed off on her.

Only days after news broke that Hunnam was departing from the upcoming “Fifty Shades of Grey” film adaptation, E! News reports that Dakota Johnson is having a hard time with the project.

“Dakota is having a very hard time dealing with all the press,” a source told E! “When she first got the role it was way too much for her.”

Aside from recent rumors that the script is undergoing major rewrites, the pair came under a great deal of fire after the casting was announced, with a significant portion of fans petitioning for Matt Bomer (“White Collar”) and Alexis Bledel (“Gilmore Girls”) to be brought in to replace them.

Hunnam’s exit was blamed on his “immersive TV schedule,” which was said to keep him from being able to “adequately prepare for the role of Christian Grey,” according to a joint statement from Universal Pictures and Focus Pictures.

Yet another insider says the casting casualty came as a result of the unwanted fame that came with the role, with the actor himself telling E! last month that it was “a big responsibility.”

With the film set for release in August 2014, the recasting will have to be done soon to keep “Fifty Shades” on schedule.
