There’s no bones about it. This news could spell the end of FOX’s hit crime procedural “Bones.”
David Boreanaz, who plays Seeley Booth, reportedly plans to depart from the show after the end of the show’s ninth and current season.
A source tells Radar Online that his threats to leave are not a negotiating tactic, saying, “David is telling friends that it’s his last season.”
Booth is one half of the show’s core couple, along with his female counterpart, Dr. Temperance “Bones” Brennan, played by Emily Deschanel.
Boreanaz refuted the story himself on Twitter Tuesday, writing:
Still, the report is not entirely surprising, as Boreanaz has threatened to leave in the past. After season 8, he wrote on Twitter, “I’m a free agent after this season. So the ‘Bones’ farewell tour is in full-swing.”
At the time, the show’s creator, Hart Hanson, nixed the rumors, stating that the actor would stay “at least through season 9.
“Bones” airs Mondays at 8pm on FOX but will move to Fridays at… to make room for the latest J.J. Abrams series, “Almost Human,” a robot-human buddy cop procedural.
