With so many movies being released throughout the year, it can be hard to keep track. To help, check out our preview of the movies that are opening this weekend:
“Concussion”: This film stars Robin Weigert (“Deadwood”) as Abby, a “married wealthy, lesbian housewife who, after suffering a blow to the head from getting smacked by her son’s baseball – walks around every corner of her suburban life to confront a mounting desire for something else.” The racy drama follows Abby as she attempts to leave her life behind for Manhattan and finds work as a high-end escort. Available in limited release and through Video on Demand, Rated R. (Warning: Trailer NSFW):
“Gravity”: In the film, which is one of the Top 5 Movies We Can’t Wait to See This October, Sandra Bullock and George Clooney play as astronauts lost in space after a mission gone wrong, and they must work together to survive. The wait for the film seemed endless, especially with all the award season buzz the highly-anticipated space drama is garnering. Luckily, “Gravity” hits theaters on October 4, so we can finally see what all the fuss is about. Rated PG-13.
“Runner Runner”: Justin Timberlake stars as a college student named Richie who gets dragged into the world of underground gambling after being swindled by a con man, Ivan (Ben Affleck). He teams up with Ivan to get on the inside, but when things go bad, “Richie comes to fully understand the deviousness of his new boss [and] tries to turn the tables on him.” Gemma Arterton and Anthony Mackie (“Pain & Gain”) also star. Rated R.
