The ongoing feud between Miley Cyrus and Sinead O’Connor probably isn’t going to blow over anytime soon.
Now O’Connor is threatening to sue Cyrus if she doesn’t apologize for her comments comparing her to Amanda Bynes.
The Twitter battle began after Sinead wrote a lengthy open letter about Cyrus’s racy “Wrecking Ball” video, at one point saying, “It is in fact the case that you will obscure your talent by allowing yourself to be pimped, whether it’s the music business or yourself doing the pimping.”
Cyrus responded on Twitter Thursday, “Before Amanda Bynes…. There was….,” with a screenshot of O’Connor’s tweets when she was discussing her mental health troubles and asking for a psychiatrist.
She also shared a photo of O’Connor’s infamous “Saturday Night Live” appearance, during which she sparked controversy by ripping up a photo of the Pope.
After a second letter from O’Connor, best known for her hit “Nothing Compares 2 U,” the 20-year-old pop star tweeted:
In response, O’Connor posted a third open letter to the “We Can’t Stop” singer on Facebook, writing:
“I have no interest whatsoever in meeting you. You had plenty of time yesterday to abuse Amanda Bynes .. an entirely innocent party .. If you cannot apologize I will have no choice but to bring legal proceedings against you since it is extremely hard to be given work when people think one is suffering from mental illness.”
