Katy Perry has been all over the news lately, and not just for the upcoming release of “Prism.”
The pop star opened up to “Billboard” for their October 5 issue, talking about a particularly low moment when Barbara Walters called her out for being late to her “10 Most Fascinating People of 2011” interview during her breakup with ex-husband Russell Brand.
“I’d prepped everyone that I was running late, but Barbara showed up at the original time anyway,” Perry said. “When I got there, I apologized immediately, but then she said to me, ‘You know, I’ve only ever waited for one other person this long, and you know who that person was? Judy Garland. You know how she turned out, right?’”
Though Perry took the insult in stride, saying “I think it’s the coolest thing that Barbara Walters shaded me,” she admitted that she should not have done the interview in the first place.
Still, nearly two years later, Walters apologized to Perry on Monday’s episode of “The View,” saying, “Katy, if I made you feel at all unhappy, during a time when you were obviously unhappy, and I didn’t know, I’m sorry. But you can’t always know!”
