The mother of Amanda Bynes has reportedly withdrawn her petition for conservatorship over her daughter in the wake of reports that the young actress could face up to 18 months in psychiatric care.
TMZ reports that Amanda’s lawyer appeared in court today, continuing his argument that his client was “mentally unfit” to stand trial in the case of allegedly throwing a bong out of her apartment window.
In his statement, he is said to have asked “for postponement for up to 18 months while she got psychiatric treatment.”
It’s unclear what will happen in the trial, with some reports stating that the case might likely be dropped altogether.
According to Perez Hilton, Amanda’s mother, Lynn Bynes, will not be attending a court hearing on Monday, as she has nixed plans for the long-term conservatorship.
It’s possible that legal move would not be necessary for some time, especially if the “Hairspray” star will be in a mental health facility into 2015.
