Michael Douglas made waves with his Emmy speech on Sunday, and it was not just from his joke to his “Behind the Candelabra” co-star Matt Damon.
Douglas took the stage at the 2013 Primetime Emmys, and part of his acceptance speech sparked speculation that the star and his estranged wife, Catherine Zeta-Jones, had reconciled.
According to Entertainment Tonight, the newly-minted Outstanding Lead Actor in a Minseries or Movie thanked his “wife, Catherine, for her support,” leading some to believe that they were not so separated after all.
ET’s Nancy O’Dell asked the actor about the comment, to which he replied, “Everybody is fine. Nothing really more to say. We were just taking a little break. We’re talking. I think everything will be fine and I’m very hopeful.”
The couple announced their separation in August after 13 years of marriage, saying that they planned to spend some time apart.
