Rumor has it that Katie Couric might be ditching her daytime series to replace Barbara Walters on “The View.”
Deadline is disputing Walters, who herself recently told the “New York Daily News,” “She is always welcome as a guest on ‘The View’ and I was recently a guest on her show, but there is no truth to the rumor that she will be taking my place on ‘The View.’”
With the ratings for “Katie” down in its second season, Couric could take over as the “serious journalist” on the panel in 2014.
The Deadline Team notes that the 83-year-old TV personality, who co-created the show back in 1997, also publicly denied Elisabeth Hasselbeck’s departure from the series shortly before she jumped ship for “Fox & Friends.”
Walters announced that she was retiring “The View” earlier though this year, though she will not step down until next summer.
The hit ABC daytime series has already undergone a series of changes this year, with Jenny McCarthy coming on board this fall to replace Hasselbeck and Joy Behar.
