With so many movies being released throughout the year, it can be hard to keep track. To help, check out our preview of the movies that are opening this weekend:
“Austenland”: Per our review, “It doesn’t take an expert knowledge of Jane Austen to find the charm in “Austenland.” Keri Russell stars as Jane, a woman whose youthful love of all things Austen has become borderline obsessive in her 30s. Adapted from a novel by Shannon Hale, not everything works, but Russell is an engaging enough lead to make it work. JJ Feild, Bret McKenzie and Jennifer Coolidge also star. Rated PG-13.
“Insidious 2”: The sequel to the surprise hit makes its way into the theaters again. In an unusual twist for a horror film, the family from the original “Insidious” is again the focus of the new installment, meaning Patrick Wilson and Rose Byrne (“Bridesmaids”) are back for more. As for the plot, according to the official release, the Lambert family seeks “to uncover the mysterious childhood secret that has left them dangerously connected to the spirit world.” Rated PG-13.
“The Family”: This new action comedy stars Robert DeNiro and Michelle Pfeiffer as the Manzonis, members of a notorious mafia family who are forced to enter witness protection. After being sent to Normany, “they do their best to fit in, [but] old habits die hard and they soon find themselves handling things the ‘family’ way.” Their family also stars Dianna Agron (“Glee”), newcomer John D’Leo and Tommy Lee Jones. Rated R.
