“Sherlock” to Star in “Star Wars: Episode VII”?

Elementary, my dear Han Solo?

With all eyes on the upcoming reboot of the “Star Wars” franchise, it looks like “Episode VII” is getting a familiar face in the form of Sherlock Holmes.

No, there isn’t going to be some trippy crossover between the two iconic franchises, but Benedict Cumberbatch, who plays the title role in the BBC’s “Sherlock,” has reportedly nabbed a role in the film, according to Zap2it.

While Cumberbatch is well-known for starring in the critically-acclaimed “Sherlock” series, he also played the villain in this summer’s “Star Trek Into Darkness.”

The casting could stem from the fact that new entries of both the “Star Wars” and “Star Trek” franchises are being helmed by J.J. Abrams, creator of “Lost” and “Alias.”

No other cast members have been confirmed, though original stars Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher and Harrison Ford are expected to reprise their roles in some fashion.

Though the star’s role has not yet been announced, perhaps his presence can explain Princess Leia’s pseudo-British accent in “A New Hope.”

“Star Wars: Episode VII” is expected to be released in 2015.
