Robin Thicke Talks "Three Generations of Thickes" on New "Blurred Lines" Track: Exclusive Audio

Robin Thicke
is mired in all sorts of controversies these days -- from Miley Cyrus' provocative guest appearance during the performance of his hit "Blurred Lines" at the MTV Video Music Awards to Thicke's ongoing battle with the Marvin Gaye estate over the song's similarity to Gaye's "Got To Give It Up."

But there's also a heartwarming story on Thicke's "Blurred Lines" album which, like the single of the same name, topped the Billboard charts when it was released last month.

He co-wrote the song "Ain't No Hat 4 That" with his father, actor Alan Thicke, and featured his three-year-old son Julian on the intro:

"My dad was at my studio...He's always writing and producing and doing all kinds of little things. And he happened to be working on a little song with my engineer, and I was in the middle of writing a song. And he sat down with me and had some great lyric ideas, and it was actually great 'cause it's the first song him and I have ever written together that I've had published since I was a teenager, probably. I kinda was humming the melody and he had some cool lyric ideas, and I came up with the 'ain't no hat for that' idea. And it was actually great because my son's voice is the voice that starts the song. My little three-year-old and then my dad and I got to write it together, so there's three generations of Thickes on that song."

Thicke begins a short run of promotional shows for "Blurred Lines" on Saturday (August 31) in Toronto which will include performances at the Virgin Mobile FreeFest in Columbia, Md., on September 21 and at the iTunes Festival in London on September 24 and 28. Thicke will also open for Maroon5 during January in Europe.
