Just two days after telling Ryan Seacrest that she was “so over” planning her wedding, Kelly Clarkson and her fiancé have decided to stop with the planning and elope.
“We are so busy that we finally just came to terms the other night and were like, ‘So, we change our minds and we want to elope,” Clarkson now tells “People.” “We just got so overwhelmed by it – all the decisions.”
Though the couple sent out save-the-date cards to their wedding guests, Clarkson’s career, coupled with the busy schedules of her fiancé and hiss children, made setting time aside to plan the wedding nearly impossible.
Instead, Clarkson and fiancé Brandon Blackstock sent out engagement photos to the guests with a note explaining that they had decided on a simpler ceremony.
“[We] said, ‘Thank you so much for understanding, but it’s just going to be me and Brandon and his two kids and the minister,” Clarkson added.
Still, the pair’s friends are throwing a party in their honor, so all of the guests for the now-cancelled wedding can celebrate the happy couple.
