Actress Nina Dobrev is moving on from her split from her “Vampire Diaries” co-star Ian Somerhalder three months ago.
For the new September issue for “Cosmopolitan,” the starlet opened up about life since her breakup with Somerhalder after nearly three years of dating. So far, the up-and-coming star has been spending a great deal of time with new gal pal Julianne Hough.
While 25-year-old country music singer and former “Dancing With the Stars” firecracker is also recovering from a recent break-up — she and two-year beau Ryan Seacrest split in March — don’t assume that the girls are throwing themselves “pity parties.”
"That's not what our friendship is about,” Dobrev told “Cosmo.” “Unfortunately, that's how it's perceived, but there's more to us. People aren't defined by their relationships. The whole point is being true to yourself and not losing yourself in relationships, whether romances or friendships."
Though she did not say if there was a new guy in her life, Dobrev knows what she wants: "You either have chemistry or you don't, but a lot of what attracts me is a guy's mind and humor and talent,” she continued.
But right now, Nina Dobrev seems to be happy with just being a “friendship and me-time” girl with her pal Julianne. More power to her!
