Good news for "Dancing With the Stars" fans who missed Maksim Chmerkovskiy last season: the bad boy of the ballroom may be back for the show’s next run!
"Maks is part of the family," Paul Lee, ABC's President of Entertainment told Today.com yesterday. “He may well be back. We love having him be part of [the show].”
A staple of “DWTS” in 13 of its 16 seasons, Maks lit up the stage with partners Misty May-Treanor, Denise Richards, Erin Andrews, Brandy, Melissa Gilbert and, perhaps most famously, Kirstie Alley.
During his Season 16 hiatus, Chmerkovskiy has been performing with his DWTS co-star and former bride-to-be Karina Smirnoff in "Forever Tango," the Luis Bravo show on Broadway.
Maks’s possible return isn’t the only “plot twist” for Season 17, as the Tuesday results shows have been cut entirely. The focus will now be put solely on the two-hour Monday shows, with the weekly eliminations likely to occur at the end of each episode.
To see if Maks returns for the rejuvenated "Dancing with the Stars," be sure to watch the 17th season opener on September 16 at 8 p.m. on ABC.
