University City District, The Rotunda and Penn come together again this year to present the 40th Street Summer Series, a free family-friendly outdoor concert series in University City. For nine years, the Summer Series has hosted world-renowned performers on the greenspace at 40th and Walnut Streets, just behind the Walnut West Free Library. Last year, four large ensembles rocked this stage with everything from Jazz to Balkan Soul to afro-futurism. This year, the series will expand to five concerts on the last Saturday of May-September, complete with Give and Take jugglers, fire artists, face painting, balloon art, and more. And don't forget to stop by the BEN FM table for your chance to play our games and win some awesome prizes.

Join BEN FM at the Baltimore Ave Dollar Stroll (42nd & Baltimore) on Thursday, June 13th for one of University City’s greatest events. The Dollar Stroll brings thousands out for an evening of deals, dining and more. This year, the Stroll will ring in and close out the summer season with dates in June and September. Along Baltimore Avenue, from 42nd to 50th Streets, longstanding merchants and new will open their doors and offer deals for a dollar. This event has had increased attendance each year, growing to 20,000 visitors in 2012. With the continued growth of this vibrant and diverse small business corridor and the popularity of this event, this year is sure to be another huge hit. In partnership with The Awesome Fest, University City District will host a free family-friendly 8-week summer film series at Drexel Park (32nd and Powelton). The films will be presented on a state-of-the-art, 30-foot outdoor screen. Recognized nation-wide for its unique events and innovative approach to programming, The Awesome Fest outdoor summer series has showcased over 150 Philadelphia premieres from the world's most prestigious film festivals, and has partnered with dozens of regional organizations including the Race Street Pier, the Philadelphia Film Festival and Rooftop Films (NYC).
