Special guest Kirsten Tallman joins Marilyn with all the details on this Sunday's 5-mile Rev Run, 3-mile walk and Young Patriots Fun Run!
To say Kirsten Tallman is a passionate, high-energy person is like saying the Eiffel Tower is a tall structure—it doesn’t quite tell the whole story. When Tallman gets behind something, the 44-year-old married mother of two does it full gusto.
Take her recent challenge of becoming race director for the ninth annual Valley Forge Revolutionary 5-Mile Run®. She’s so passionate that she became a certified race director through Road Runners Club of America, a national organization dedicated to all things running.
Interestingly, Tallman wasn’t always a runner. In an effort to get back into shape after the birth of her first son, she began walking at Valley Forge National Historical Park near her home in King of Prussia. Those walks turned into jogs and before she knew it she was an avid runner. She signed up and volunteered for the inaugural Valley Forge Revolutionary Run at Valley Forge Park in 2006 and has been active with the event ever since.
Her full-time gig couldn’t be any more fitting−she is employed by the Valley Forge Convention and Visitors Bureau, the title sponsor and producer of the Revolutionary Run –as their visitor services liaison at Valley Forge National Historical Park. As she puts it, it’s her job to make sure the 1.9 million visitors to the 3,500-acre historical gem in Montgomery County receive all the information they need about the park, as well as other attractions and accommodations throughout Montgomery County. She says she really enjoys being a cheerleader for the area.
Tallman, who touts her mother as a major influence of her drive for success, grew up about 75 miles north of Pittsburgh, in Sharon, Pa., with her older brother. She is a 1992 graduate of Drexel University, and loves visiting Surf City, NJ, every summer with her family.
Tune in here and feel her passion and energy!
