Food Phight 5K is a benefit to fund research and patient and family support programs at the Center for Pediatric Eosinophilic Disorders at CHOP. Two extraordinary Moms, whose children who have an Eosinophilic distorder joined me to talk about the disease, along with a physician who treats kids with the disease.

Suzanne Harris was a block away from the finish line when the bombs when off at the Boston Marathon. Thankfully, she and her husband (who ran) were already up in their hotel room but even at 1 block and 37 stories away from the blast, it was clear that something was very wrong. Her story is compelling, so please listen when time permits.

It's estimated that 25.8 Million People in the US have Diabetes...and unfortunately, that number is growing instead of decreasing. Finding a cure would help so many people. On the show is Nancy Wolfson Jaffee, Event Coordinator for Rockin Docs sharing the details of the upcoming Rockin Docs event coming up 5/10 at World Cafe Live.
Building on the success of the last two shows, the Rockin' Docs concert will feature four established local bands which include multiple doctor/musicians from several major hospital centers in the Philly area (Abington, U of P, Einstein, Doylestown, Holy Redeemer, Aria Health and RWJ Hamilton.

This year is the 12th Annual Comcast Cares Day, Comcast and NBC Universal's Day of Service and the nation's largest single-day corporate volunteer effort. Yes, they work all year round helping people who need it the most. Many people only think of the Salvation Army at Christmas time, but the fact of the matter is that the folks at SA work 365 days a year because need happens 365 days a year.
